Having owned a Garmin Forerunner 305 - Garmin Heart Rate Monitor for some time I wanted to share my review of this very nice piece of equipment. First do keep in mind that although it will display the time, the Garmin 305 GPS is not a watch. If you are looking for a Garmin GPS watch do a web search and you will find what you are looking for. Things I like about the Forerunner 305
This gadget is ideal for the person who wants a tool that can help to effectively monitor the results of workouts. What I really like is that it will alert you if your pace is falling behind. Using the lap-average pace presentation has been the most useful for me. You can compete against your previous workouts for constant self-improvement. Not only does it record distance accurately, you can have it alert you when you have covered the distance you desire, thus freeing you from having to only run where the distance is already measured. This allows me to just take off running anywhere I want to go. The heart rate monitor seems to be very accurate and this helps in determining improvements in you physical conditioning. One of the things I really love is that you can download your workout data to your PC for analysis.
Things I don't like about the Forerunner 305
Sometimes the GPS takes too long to connect with satellites, however when connected it stays that way for me when I am running through woodland paths. I have found that the altimeter is not accurate, but my main concern is getting correct distance readings, so no problem for me. This GPS/Heart Rate Monitor is fairly expensive and I am still chapped that I paid full price for mine.
